Children

Ephesus Church places a high value on the spiritual education and nurture of its children. While children's ministry is helpful for strengthening, confirming, and reinforcing the great truths of Scripture, the Bible clearly states that parents are the primary vehicle by which spiritual things are to be imparted (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 32:46-47a; Proverbs 1:8,10,15; 2:1; 3:1; 4:1,10; 5:1,7; 6:1,20; 7:1,24; 8:32; 22:6; Ephesians 6:4). We strive to provide parents with as much assistance as possible for the training and raising of their children. We encourage daily family worship, scripture memory and catechism in the home as well as follow-up from Sunday school and any other children's ministry activity. Make sure to visit our parent resource page for various helps in the above mentioned areas. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Children's Sunday School

The major emphasis of Children's ministry at Ephesus Church is placed on the Sunday school hour each Sunday morning (9:45am - 10:45am). We utilize Children Desiring God Sunday school curriculum for Ages 2 - 8th Grade. One of the greatest resources we provide to families is the weekly follow-up sheet from the Sunday school curriculum. The curriculum does not change from year-to-year in the individual grade levels; therefore, we are able to provide a systematic approach to training our Children in godliness, knowing what to expect from previous years of Sunday school participation. We strongly encourage our families with Children to be involved in Sunday school. Listed below are the various classes we offer based on age/grade:

A Sure Foundation ("Talkers" Age 2 - Room 207)
The church nursery should be an exciting and vital ministry in the church. It should be a launching pad for nurturing the faith of the next generation. A Sure Foundation: A Philosophy and Curriculum for Ministry to Infants and Toddlers is designed to help develop a place of prayer for young children, a place where they hear foundational Bible stories, and a place where children learn simple truth statements and begin to memorize scripture as they form their language skills.

He Established a Testimony (ages 3-4 - Room 208)
Themes from the Old Testament for Young Children
God has testified of His glorious deeds and mighty power. This curriculum explores God's greatness by noting key themes found chronologically throughout the Old Testament. Bible stories are not written out; teachers prepare the lesson through the study of scripture using a list of key themes, opening illustrations, and application questions to acquaint children with a great God whose character never changes.

Jesus, What a Savior! (Pre-K - K - Room 204)
A Study for Children on Redemption
We were created to enjoy the glory of God. But as sinners we fail to treasure Him as we should. Our hearts are full of sin and we stand in need of a Savior. This chronological study on redemption explores the incomparable greatness and worth of God, the desperate condition of helpless sinners, and the all-sufficient work of Jesus Christ to redeem sinful people.

The ABCs of God (1st Grade - Room 502)
A Study for Children on the Greatness and Worth of God
Right thinking about God is essential for the life of faith. Using the alphabet as a framework for teaching the attributes of God, this study explores the delight that God has in Himself as the source, means, and purpose of all things. Each lesson asks and answers three key questions, "Who is God?" "What is He like?" and "How should I act toward Him?" as it presents a theology of God for children.

Faithful to All His Promises (2nd - 3rd Grade - Room 501)
A Study for Children on the Promises of God
God's promises are gifts to the believer. The challenge of the Christian life is not to simply know the promises of God, but to place unshakable confidence in them. This study teaches children that God's character is trustworthy; therefore, His promises are true and reliable.

How Majestic is Your Name (4th - 5th Grade - Room 504)
A Study for Children on the Names and Character of God
The names of God are wonderful revelations of His majestic character. This study presents the Hebrew names of God in the Old Testament and the names of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Each lesson encourages children to see and rejoice in the goodness and greatness of God as they explore the meaning of His glorious names.
